The United Nations, for statistical purposes, defines 'youth', as those persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years, so I'm looking at the age group of 18-28 (adding the years since MysMe was released in 2016) with the assumption that the participants would have likely spent a part of their youth in the fandom. ❓ Why only 18 - 28 years old? Unfortunately, this study is primarily looking at fans and players who are old enough to reflect on MysMe fandom experience during their adolescent years, not those who are currently living through their adolescence or are not in their adolescent years when playing Mystic Messenger. ![]() Participants in the age group of 18 to 28 years old are invited to participate in this study by clicking HERE. The current study will fill the above gaps by using Mystic Messenger as a case study to prioritize the qualitative and varying experiences of the larger demographic of international fans, offering a platform for FANS EVERYWHERE to reflect on their past fan journey and tell their own stories. Further, while many of us have grown up with and around fandom, few studies have emphasized the adolescent fan’s experience.Īs Mystic Messenger is available in English and reached one million users worldwide just three months after its release in 2016, its global popularity offers an innovative platform to bridge the research gap in dating sim game studies previously reserved for Chinese and Japanese contexts.
